Mobile Food Vehicles (MFVs), which include food trucks and ice cream trucks, are not permitted in any zoning district in the Village of Flossmoor — including business districts (FMC 204-1)— except as otherwise described as follows:
- MFVs may be permitted during Village-sponsored community events that are held within the B-5 District, subject to approval and permitting.
- MFVs may operate on private property for private events in residential districts and at special events in public-use districts with the consent of the property owner; no permit is required. County and state regulations apply to MFVs.
Additionally, within the B-5 Central Business District (Downtown Flossmoor), all business, servicing or processing shall be conducted within completely enclosed buildings, except for sidewalk cafés and sales, farmer’s markets and Village-sponsored community events. Sidewalk cafés may be permitted to lawfully existing restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and other establishments selling food or beverages on public sidewalks immediately adjacent to the business establishment between April 15 and November 1 (FMC 245-1-19). Village merchant sidewalk sales may be allowed on public sidewalks immediately adjacent to lawfully existing establishments with a permit between April 15 and October 15 (FMC 245-1-20).
